The Alternative Investment Market (AIM), founded in 1995 in London, UK, is a public securities market specializing in small cap companies having a market capitalization of anywhere from a few tens of millions of dollars up to five hundred million. It is owned and regulated by the London Stock Exchange. AIM has enjoyed considerable success: there are currently some 1,500 companies listed with an aggregate market cap of over $130 billion. AIM has attracted a number of international companies, including about forty from the US. asked by existing and prospective shareholders.
